The
artists Karin & Johan Birgersson and Karin Andersson are members of a trio from the county of Värmland, a region rich in folk tales and myths. Karin and Johan Birgersson are singers, soprano and baritone respectively, and enjoy singing duets. They also play the piano, the recorder and the violin. Karin Andersson, completing the trio, is a pianist and also plays the trombone. They have performed on the radio and on TV, at major musical events such as Musik vid Siljan and have given a number of concerts in Sweden as well as internationally. All three of them studied music at the acclaimed Academy of Music at Ingesund - Ingesunds musikhögskola - in the city of Arvika, located in the western part of Värmland, Sweden. Music café and Manor music Kept on a small and intimate scale, these concerts allow for close contact between the performers and their audience. The so-called "manor music" programme, consisting predominantly of chamber music, usually takes place in one of the old manors typical for the region, hence its name. The programs offer a broad musical selection, consisting of vocal solo performances as well as fiery love duets from the opera, the operetta and the musical comedy. Also included are, of course, Swedish songs and ballads. The songs are accompanied with passion on the piano. Completing the selection is instrumental folk music interpreted on the recorder, the violin and a swinging trombone. Church concerts The programme is mainly composed of church music, where arias and duets from oratorios and cantata are the obvious choice, but as a complement to the sacred mood there are also songs from the romantic literature. To provide yet another dimension, these concerts include folk music, arranged for voices and instruments, featuring the recorder and the violin but also the mellow timbre of the trombone and the majestic sound of the organ. Song recitals The programme of these evenings is composed of Nordic, German, French and English lieder , alternating with solo piano performances and vocalist duets where the interaction of voice and piano offer a strong and comprehensive musical experience. |
